Common questions
Do I need to install the controller before applying?
Most utilities accept claims after install β but a few (CVWD, Tempe, Scottsdale) require pre-approval before you buy. We flag those so you don't accidentally lose eligibility.
What if my utility isn't on the list?
Our live registry covers 119 utilities across 15 states β every utility on the EPA WaterSense Promotional Partner list, plus dozens more we found in regional umbrella programs (SoCal Water$mart, BAWSCA, Tampa Bay Water Wise, Utah Water Savers). If your utility isn't listed, your service area probably doesn't fund a smart-controller program β those concentrate in water-stressed states.
How long until the check arrives?
Typical: 4β8 weeks after submission. Some utilities (Spokane, Highlands Ranch) credit your water bill directly within 2 weeks.
What does this cost?
Free. Soildrops makes the controller β we built this so customers actually capture the rebates the utilities are already offering.
